To establish a low cost outdoor clinic for the needy as a joint initiative of PROCHESTA and No. 4 Milanee Club.
To select few most disadvantaged villages/communities in rural Bengal and concentrate on sustainable development in health and education of residents by follow up action through holding camps more frequently and at regular intervals.
Prochesta, an humble endeavour to serve the needy was christened as ‘Prochesta Charitable Trust’ in December, 2013. The seed was, however, sown several years ago by Dr. Sanjoy Dasgupta, a compassionate and renowned physician of Vidyasagar Colony and an active member of No. 4. MILANEE Club in the southern fringes of the city. He had been distributing free medicines to his needy patients on a regular basis. Then came the valuable suggestion from Subhas Chandra Naha, another active member of the club to transform this individual endeavour into a collective movement to serve more people. Soon more enthusiastic members of No. 4 Milanee Club, Abhinandan Dutta, Indrasish Sen Sharma, Sudipta Dasgupta, Pradip Roy, Shibnath Halder and many others joined hands and thus was born Prochesta Charitable Trust. With the good wishes of the residents of Vidyasagar Colony and its adjoining areas, Prochesta started its journey from an abandoned school building in a small park opposite No. 4 Milanee Club.
Having been born and brought up in a refugee colony, residents here like any other refugee colony survived, sustained and progressed on the strength of compassion, mutual co-operation and social commitment. It was, therefore natural and just a matter of time that all members of No. 4 Milanee Club came forward to ensure that this humanitarian endeavour continues uninterrupted. They offered Prochesta a piece of land within the club ground so Prochesta could have its own permanent accommodation and expand its activities.
With tireless efforts and contributions of the club members and several well wishers the dream home of Prochesta soon became a reality. On 15th April, 2015 (Poila Baishakh, 1422 Bangabda) respected Dilip Maharaj, General Secretary of Bharat Sevashram Sangha inaugurated Prochesta´s own building and bestowed his blessings so Prochesta could serve the needy with love, empathy and compassion.
Over the years Prochesta has expanded and extended its humanitarian activities much beyond the confines of Vidyasagar Colony. Not restricting itself to providing free medical assistance (medicines, health check-up and pathological tests) to a large number of needy people within its own premises, Prochesta has also been arranging medical camps with specialist doctors and medicines for marginalised people in remote areas under able guidance of Dr. Sanjoy Dasgupta. Prochesta acknowledges with gratitude the assistance and active co-operation rendered by local clubs, NGOs and well meaning residents of these camp locations.
Beyond medical services, members of Prochesta reach out to the victims of natural calamities with relief materials, food articles and medicines, especially in the remotest areas of the Sunderbans. Activities also include distribution of warm clothes among pavement dwellers in the city and new clothes for villagers before Durga Puja. Prochesta always tries to reach out to the most disadvantaged. The relieved faces of people in distress and the twinkling eyes of the children give impetus to Prochesta´s members to continue with these endeavors with new zeal and enthusiasm.
Prochesta acknowledges with gratitude the generous assistance being rendered by renowned Pharmaceutical Companies and Pathological laboratories and contributions being made by a large number of compassionate citizens from within and outside the Colony spontaneously. Prochesta sincerely considers them as members of the extended ‘Prochesta Family’ and earnestly appeals to more and more kind hearted people to come forward with their helping hands to be a part of this humanitarian movement.
To contribute in building a stronger and more inclusive society by empowering its most marginalised communities through sustainable development of health and education.
To help the needy with love, empathy and compassion, focussing on health awareness and medical needs, emergency medical and other assistance to natural calamity victims and meeting out educational requirements of students in need.
